OUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITY

Protecting Our Community Through COVID-19

During this extraordinary time, the safety and well-being of our BRIO residents and community remains our top priority. Our BRIO team continues to monitor this rapidly evolving situation and will act accordingly in the interest of keeping all of our resident and community members safe. In addition to our high standards of cleanliness, maintenance and sanitation, we are taking additional precautionary steps as we chart forward in our day to day business.

Immediate steps taken to minimize the impact

  • We ask that all residents and onsite staff maintain ‘social distance’ as recommended by Canadian Health Authorities

  • We have adjusted our Leasing Consultants’ availability. Our Leasing Office doors are closed to prevent unnecessary contact, but we are open, around and available to help when an appointment is made via phone or email

  • All emergency maintenance requests will continue to be a priority, but non-essential maintenance will be managed on a case-by-case basis to avoid any unnecessary contact

  • We’re increasing the level of sanitization and disinfecting efforts when cleaning common areas which include, but are not limited to the lobby, gym, doors, garbage room, elevator buttons, rails, etc.

  • All amenity spaces will be closed until further notice

  • We’ve recommended that our residents and onsite staff take additional health measures, including frequent hand washing, respiratory etiquette, social distancing, staying home when sick and pausing all non-essential work travel

  • All community events are cancelled until further notice

Residents can manage their residential experience anytime, anywhere with Yuhu

Our residents recently received a communication about the introduction of our new online, one-stop-shop, Resident Member Portal powered by Yuhu. The Portal allows residents to remotely make online payments, chat with our onsite team and ask questions from the comfort of their own home. As social distancing remains important, we are encouraging those who have not yet joined the Portal, to please contact the BRIO team directly.

Tips for staying healthy

If you haven’t had the chance to read up on it yet, here are some of the important suggestions from Health Canada that can help reduce everyone’s risk and maintain the safety of others:

  • Thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water for at least 30 seconds and do so frequently throughout the day

  • Avoid touching your mouth, nose and eyes

  • When coughing or sneezing, cover your mouth and nose by coughing or sneezing into your elbow or sleeve to reduce the spread of germs

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick and remind those who are sick to stay at home

  • Make healthy lifestyle choices and stay hydrated to keep your immune system strong

  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or anti-bacterial wipes

  • Stay home if you are sick

If you or someone you’ve been in contact with has travelled outside of Canada, the Government of Canada advises you to watch for symptoms like fever, cough or shortness of breath. If you show any symptoms or have exposure concerns, you can take this self-assessment to help determine whether you should be tested and dial 811 to reach the Alberta Health Line.

If you or a member of your household has been advised by health authorities to self-isolate and obtain COVID-19 testing, remain at home and follow self-isolation guidelines until you receive negative results and stop showing symptoms.
